Sequel to the 2006 film 300, is based on the (at the time unpublished) Dark Horse comic series Xerxes by Frank Miller.

The film stars Australian actors Sullivan Stapleton (as Themistocles) and Callan Mulvey (as Scyllias).

English actor Jack O'Connell is cast in the role of Scyllias's son, Calisto.

As he portrayed in the first film, Brazilian actor Rodrigo Santoro returns to the role of Xerxes.

The production filmed at the New Boyana Film Studios, Sofia, Bulgaria.
