Released as Jungle Hell, the film was made using footage from an unsold Sabu television pilot titled Jungle Boy and from the 1948 film Man-Eater of Kumaon (also starring Sabu).

Sabu fought to block release of the film as he had not consented to the use of scenes featuring him.

Additional footage of a flying saucer was added to the film in the 1960s.

Previous films starring Sabu were The Thief of Bagdad (1940), The Jungle Book (1942), and White Savage (1943).

Actor David Bruce had also appeared in 1950's Pygmy Island and 1954's Cannibal Attack (both with Johnny Weissmuller as Jungle Jim).
