Considered to be the definitive television version of the 1719 novel Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe.

The series starred Austrian Actor Robert Hoffmann as Robinson Crusoe and Ecuador-born actor Fabian Cevallos in the role of Friday.

First aired October 1964 in Germany as four 90-minute episodes under the title Robinson Crusoe.

The last remaining prints (16 mm) of the 13-part UK television version were discovered in a French film archive.

The production filmed mainly on locations in the Canary Islands.

Robert Hoffmann passed in 2022 at the age of 82.

Fabian Cevallos passed in 2024 at the age of 77.
