Cast as Demetrios, Sal Ponti started as a songwriter in Philadelphia, before moving to Hollywood where he made several acting appearances (including this film) under the pseudonym of Anthony Hall.

Actor John Dall (cast as Zaren) previously appeared the year pior as Marcus Publius Glabrus in the 1960 film classic Spartacus.

Credited as 'Captain of the Guard', William Smith would later be seen on television as Catoga in a 1967 episode of the series Daniel Boone titled A Matter of Blood (S4.E14).

In an uncredited appearance as a slave, Daniel Elam had previously appeared as a native in the 1953 Bomba the Jungle Boy film Safari Drums.

George Pal later produced the pulp fantasy film Doc Savage: The Man of Bronze (1975) starring former TV Tarzan Ron Ely.

Filmed in California at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Culver City and on location at Santa Catalina Island.

Sal Ponti passed in 1988 at the age of 53.

Daniel Elam passed in 1990 at the age of 74.
