Following his screen debut as Tarzan in 1981, Miles O'Keeffe is cast in the starring role in this Italian fantasy adventure directed by Joe D'Amato who had previously worked as an assistant camerman on 1961's Hercules In the Haunted World.

O'Keeffe would later star in two sequels to the film, The Blade Master (1982) and Iron Warrior (1987).

Co-star Sabrina Siani also appeared in The Invincible Barbarian (1981), The Sword of the Barbarians (1982) and Conquest (1983).

Released in Italy as Ator the Invincible (Ator l'invincibile).
