A retelling of the classic legend first told in the 1719 novel Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe.

Directed by Caleb Deschanel, the film stars actors Aidan Quinn as Crusoe, Adé Sapara as the indigenous tribesman, and Hepburn Graham as "Lucky".

Other screen credits of director Caleb Deschanel include that of cinematographer for 1979's The Black Stallion.

The production filmed on location in Seychelles, an island country in the western Indian Ocean.
