Cast as the Neanderthal, actor Gregg Martell would later be seen in The Three Stooges Meet Hercules (1962).

In the role of Julio, Alan Roberts was previously seen in the 1958 sci-fi film The Space Children, which also featured Johnny Crawford (Indian Paint).

Exterior filming was done in the Caribbean Sea on the Island of St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.

The film's Brontosaurus model and miniature jungle set was used for The Twilight Zone 1961 episode The Odyssey of Flight 33 (S2.E18).

Gregg Martell passed in 2005 at the age of 87.

Alan Roberts passed in 2008 at the age of 59.
