Starring Steve Reeves (Hercules) this peplum classic was co-directed by Mario Bava (Hercules in the Haunted World) and Jacques Tourneur (Canyon Passage).

Mario Bava may perhaps be best remembered for directing the horror classics Black Sunday (1960), Black Sabbath (1963) and A Bay of Blood (1971).

Other directoral credits for Jacques Tourneur include the films I Walked with a Zombie (1943), Night of the Demon (1957) and The Comedy of Terrors (1964).

Italian actor Sergio Fantoni (cast in the role of Teocrito) previously appeared with Steve Reeves in 1959's Hercules Unchained.

The production filmed at the Titanus Studios, Rome, Lazio, Italy.

Sergio Fantoni passed in 2020 at the age of 89.
