Starring Audrey Hepburn (Wait Until Dark) as Rima, a jungle girl who falls in love with a Venezuelan traveller played by Anthony Perkins (Psycho).

Based on the 1904 exotic romance novel Green Mansions: A Romance of the Tropical Forest by Anglo-Argentine author, naturalist and ornithologist William Henry Hudson.

Director Mel Ferrer (The Norseman) was married to Audrey Hepburn at the time. (Vincente Minnelli had originally been slated to direct the film.)

Cast as the Venezuela native Kua-Ko, actor Henry Silva later roles include 1966's The Plainsman (as Crazy Knife) and 1986's Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold (as Agon).

Though mostly filmed in California, some location filming of the Parahauri Mountains and Orinoco River in Venezuela was used as exterior jungle footage.

Anthony Perkins passed in 1992 at the age of 60.

Henry Silva passed in 2022 at the age of 95.
