This remake of the 1994 French film Un indien dans la ville (aka: Little Indian, Big City) stars Tim Allen, Martin Short, JoBeth Williams, and Sam Huntington (as Mimi-Siku).

The storyline in this version follows that of the original fairly closely, the biggest difference being the change in it's city location from Paris, France to instead New York City, United States.

Sam Huntington would later appear in the films Not Another Teen Movie (2001), Freshmen Orientation (2004) and Superman Returns (2006), in addition to co-starring in the TV series Cavemen (2007-2008).

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films nominated Sam Huntington for a 1997 Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor for his portrayal of Mimi-Siku in this film.

Sam Huntington played the role of Jimmy Olson in Superman Returns which starred actor Brandon Routh (Crooked Arrows) as the "man of steel". (Both Huntington and Routh co-starred again in the 2011 horror comedy Dylan Dog: Dead of Night).

Actress Valerie Mahaffrey (as Jan Kempster) and Sam Huntington would both later appear in Sully (2016) starring Tom Hanks (who along with Tim Allen provided voices in the Toy Story film franchise).

In addition to New York City, the production also filmed on location at Canaima National Park, Estado Bolívar, Venezuela.
