The film (based on the Disney theme park attraction) stars Dwayne Johnson as a skipper of an Amazon River steamboat who is hired by two explorers searching for the Tree of Life.

Previously Dwayne Johnson (aka: The Rock) had starred in 2014's Hercules and 2002's The Scorpion King.

Many of the "bad puns" used in the film are taken directly from those used by cast members piloting the theme park attraction at the Disney Parks.

Filming locations include Hawaii and Georgia.
