A chapter of this apocalyptic adventure concerns the title hero (Mel Gibson) becoming the savior of a lost primitive tribe of children and teenagers who are decendants of the survivors of a crashed Boeing 747. They believe Max is the pilot, returning to fix the plane and fly them to "Tomorrow-morrow Land".

Filmed in Australia, this was the third entry in the Mad Max saga of a post-nuclear future.
