This 1971 BBC adaptation of James Fenimore Cooper's 1826 novel The Last of the Mohicans stars Kenneth Ives (Hawkeye), Philip Madoc (Magua), John Abineri (Chingachgook) and Richard Warwick (Uncas).
Originally aired in the UK on BBC One and was later shown in the United States in 1972 via the PBS television series Masterpiece Theatre (hosted by British-American writer Alistair Cooke).
Other screen appearances of Philip Madoc include roles in such films as Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. (1966), Berserk! (1967), Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (1969) and Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde (1971).
John Abineri would reprise the role of Chingachgook in the 1973 BBC miniseries Hawkeye, the Pathfinder (based on James Fenimore Cooper's 1840 novel, The Pathfinder, or the Inland Sea.)
Kenneth Ives did not return as Hawkeye in the follow up miniseries, with the role going instead to Canadian actor Paul Massie (The Two Faces of Dr. Jekyll).
