Willie Aames (Cut and Run) and Phoebe Cates (Gremlins) star in this "coming of age" adventure movie produced following the theatrical success of 1980's The Blue Lagoon.

Actor Yosef Shiloach would later appear with Tarzan actor Joe Lara in 1993's American Cyborg: Steel Warrior.

The film's end title song, Theme from Paradise, performed by Phoebe Cates was a smash hit in Italy and was #1 on the charts for 22 weeks.

Location filming in Israel included Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea and the Sea of Galilee.

According to the film's May 10, 1982 New York Times review by Vincent Canby, the chimps used during production were previously seen in 1981's Tarzan the Ape Man (starring Bo Derek and Miles O'Keeffe).

The Blu-ray (available from Fun City Editions) includes about 5 minutes of footage that the the film's distributor, Embassy Pictures, cut from prints just prior to it being released to theaters.
