Jason Scott Lee (Noro) and Esai Morales (Make) are boyhood friends turned rivals in this South Seas adventure tale of love and war based on Rapanui legends of Easter Island.
The cast also includes New Zealand actor Nathaniel Lees who later appeared in the 2001 TV adaption of The Lost World, and as Chiron the centaur in 25 episodes of the Ryan Gosling TV series Young Hercules (1998-1999).
A former road construction worker, Maori actor Lawrence Makoare (Atta) was later cast as The Warrior in 2014's The Dead Lands. He has also appeared in two third season episodes of Xena: Warrior Princess (The Quill Is Mightier... and Fins, Femmes & Gems) and in an episode of Young Hercules (Fame) in 1998.
Filmed on location in Rapa Nui National Park, Easter Island, Chile.
Actor Kevin Costner (Dances with Wolves, Dragonfly) was a producer on the film. Director Kevin Reynolds' next film would be 1995's Waterworld (starring Kevin Costner).
Jason Scott Lee's next role was that of Mowgli in Disney's The Jungle Book released later the same year.
