This sequel to the 1980 film starring Christopher Atkins and Brooke Shields picks up where the first left off ...with the discovery of a small boat adrift in the Pacific Ocean.

The film stars Brain Krause (Richard LeStrange Jr.) and Milla Jovovich (Lilli Hargrave) as two youths who are marooned on an island in the South Pacific in 1987.

The screenplay is based on the 1923 novel The Garden of God by Henry De Vere Stacpoole, which was a sequel to the author's 1908 best-seller The Blue Lagoon.

Previous credits for the film's director, William A. Graham, include a 1958 television version of Swiss Family Robinson starring Walter Pidgeon, Patty Duke, and Dennis Hopper.

The film's development was delayed in the 1980's due to a dispute between Columbia Pictures and the estate of author Henry De Vere Stacpoole.

Randal Kleiser (director of the 1980 film) served as an executive producer on the project as he was filming White Fang (starring Ethan Hawke) at the time.

Brian Krause later appeared for 8 seasons on the television series Charmed (1998-2006) in the role of Leo Wyatt.

Credited as "First Mate", actor Gus Mercurio previously appeared as an "Officer" in the previous 1980 film, The Blue Lagoon.

Filmed in Fiji, on the island of Taveuni.

Gus Mercurio passed in 2010 at the age of 82.

William A. Graham passed in 2013 at the age of 87.
