Richard Harris returns in this sequel to A Man Called Horse (1970) as the British aristocrat who became a member of a Lakota Sioux tribe.

Filming locations included Sonara, Mexico and Custer State Park in South Dakota.

Actor Jorge Luke (Running Bear) later films included roles in Eagle's Wing (1979) and Treasure of the Amazon (1985).

A third film in the series, Triumphs of a Man Called Horse was released in 1983. This final installment starred Michael Beck as Koda, the son of John Morgan (Richard Harris).

Richard Harris passed in 2002 at the age of 72.

Jorge Luke passed in 2012 at the age of 70.
