Starring Tyrone Power, this South Seas adventure film was adapted from the 1941 historical novel Benjamin Blake by Edison Marshall.

Actress Frances Farmer previously appeared alongside Jon Hall in another South Seas adventure: South of Pago Pago (1940).

The cast also includes John Carradine (Tarzan the Magnificent), Roddy McDowall (The Planet of the Apes), and Pedro de Cordoba (also previously cast in South of Pago Pago).

Co-stars Gene Tierney and George Sanders would both later appear together in the 1947 classic film The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.

The production filmed at 20th Century Fox Studios, Century City and Busch Gardens, Pasadena, California, with Honolulu, Hawaii serving as background footage.

Tyrone Power passed in 1958 at the age of 44.
