Starring Janine Turner, Patrick Bergin and Michael Greyeyes, this made-for-television western premiered on the CBS Television Network March 16, 1997.

Directed by Jerry London (Dr Quinn, Medicine Women: The Heart Within), the film is loosely based on the true story of Anna Brewster Morgan, who in 1868 was taken captive by a band of Sioux Indians.

In the role of Waxanhdo, actor Rodney A. Grant previously appeared as Crazy Horse in the television mini-series Son of the Morning Star (1991) and was cast as Chingachgook on the TV-series Hawkeye (1994-1995).

Also in 1997, Michael Greyeyes would guest star in the role of Walks In The Night on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Women in the two-part season 5 episode Moment of Truth airing in May of that year.

Cast as General Custer, actor William Shockley may perhaps be best known for his portrayal of saloon owner Hank Lawson on the TV series Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman from 1993-1998.

The production filmed exteriors on location in Kansas and Colorado.
