Inspired by the 1812 novel The Swiss Family Robinson by Johann David Wyss, the film premiered on The Hallmark Channel in June of 2002.

The cast includes Liam Cunningham, Brana Bajic, Jesse Spenser, Neil Newbon, and Andrew Lee Potts.

In his first film Ridad Lardpanna is cast as Namatiti, a native who befriends the stranded Robinson family.

Liam Cunningham would later appear in the role of Solon in the 2010 remake of Clash of the Titans.

The production filmed on location in Thailand.
