Cast as Talon, actor Lee Horsley would later star as Natty Bumpo in the 1994-95 TV series Hawkeye.

Simon MacCorkindale (as Lord Mikah) also appeared in Robbers of the Sacred Mountain (1982) and on the TV mini-series Hawkeye, the Pathfinder (1973).

Also cast is actor Reb Brown (as Phillip), who would later go on to star as Yor, the Hunter from the Future in 1983.

California filming locations included Bronson Canyon, Los Angeles and the Mission Inn, Riverside.

Stuntman Jack Tyree was killed during filming at the age of 37 when he jumped off a 75 foot cliff and missed landing on his cushioning airbags, hitting the ground instead.

Director Albert Pyun made a sequel (hinted at in the end credits): Tales of an Ancient Empire (2012) starring Kevin Sorbo (Hercules, The Legendary Journeys), Ralf Moeller (Conan the Adventurer) and Lee Horsley returning in the role of Talon.

Simon MacCorkindale passed in 2010 at the age of 58.
