Also known as Tarzan and the Sirens during production.

This is the last of twelve tarzan films to star Johnny Weissmuller, who would go on to star as Jungle Jim in a series of 16 films (1948-1955) and on television (1956-1958).

Actress Brenda Joyce appears as Jane Porter for the fourth time alongside Johnny Weissmuller (and for the last time the following year with Lex Barker in Tarzan's Magic Fountain).

The character of Boy (previously portrayed in eight films of the series by Johnny Sheffield) was written out of the script, described as being away to school.

Cast as Tiko, actor Gustavo Rojo later films include 1962's Caesar Against the Pirates (with Gordon Mitchell) and 1969's The Valley of Gwangi starring James Franciscus (Beneath the Planet of the Apes).

Fernando Wagner, in the role of Varga (a pearl trader), would go on to direct (and appear) in the 1960 jungle action adventure film Virgin Sacrifice.

Mexico filming locations include Acapulco, Guerrero and Estudios Churubusco, Mexico City.

This was also the first "official" Tarzan movie to be filmed outside the United States since 1935's The New Adventures of Tarzan starring Herman Brix.

It was reported that Angel Garcia (Johnny Weissmuller's stunt double) was killed on July 29, 1947 when waves dashed him back against the base of a cliff from which he had just performed a high dive for the film.

Johnny Weissmuller passed in 1984 at the age of 79 in Acapulco, Mexico and is buried in the Valley of the Light cemetery, Acapulco de Juarez, Guerrero.

Gustavo Rojo passed in 2017 at the age of 93.
