Lex Barker's fifth and final screen appearance as Tarzan finds the king of the jungle being held captive for much of the film by ivory hunters. Joyce MacKenzie is cast as Barker's fifth Jane (Barker himself was married 5 times) in this film which started production with the working title Tarzan and the Vampire. In 1957 Lex Barker would star in The Deerslayer, based on the story by James Fenimore Cooper. He would later gain popularity as Old Shatterhand in a series of German westerns.

Lex Barker passed in 1973 at the age of 54.
