Lex Barker's second Tarzan film involves a disease that can kill within hours, brought to the jungle by a lost civilization who are abducting women. Lex Barker's Tarzan has thankfully discarded his "slippers" for most of this film. Much of the filming was done on the RKO Forty Acres backlot and Tarzan creator Edgar Rice Burroughs visited the set during production.

Edgar Rice Burroughs would pass on March 19, 1950 at the age of 74, just days after the film's March 15th release.
