A sword and sandal epic starring bodybuilder Mark Forest (Mole Men Against the Son of Hercules, Goliath and the Sins of Babylon) as Rome's premier gladiator, Maciste.

Cast as Zefatius, actor Robert Hundar had previously appeared on theater screens in the 1960 film Goliath and the Dragon (which also starred Mark Forest).

Directed by Mario Caiano, whose other peplum films include Ulysses Against the Son of Hercules (1962), Medusa Against the Son of Hercules (1963) and The Two Gladiators (1964).

The production filmed at the De Paolis/INCIR Studios, Rome, Italy.
