Starring Bill Paxton (as Sam Houston), a five-part television miniseries based on the Texas Revolution against Mexico and the formation of the Texas Rangers.

The cast included Brendan Fraser (George of the Jungle), Thomas Jane (Dreamcatcher), Antonio Monroi (Apocalypto) and Miguel Ángel Fuentes (Triumphs of a Man Called Horse).

Directed by Roland Joffé, whose credits include the 1986 film The Mission (a historical drama set in 18th-century South America) and 1995's The Scarlet Letter.

The final episode teases a sequel miniseries titled Comanche Wars which never materialized.

The series filmed on location in Durango, Mexico.
