Loosely based on historical events this sequel to 1973's Apachen depicts the conflict between the Mimbreño Apaches and White American merchants in 19th-century Arizona.

Gottfried Kolditz returns as director of this "Red Western" starring Serbian-German actor/stuntman Gojko Mitic, cast again in the role of Apache warrior Ulzana.

Created by Communist East German's legendary DEFA Film Studios, the Red Westerns made the Native Americans the heroes and portrayed the white settlers as villians.

Gojko Mitic starred in 12 western films of this type between 1966 and 1984, including Weisse Wölfe (1969), Osceola (1974) and Der Scout (1983).

The production filmed in Romania and Uzbekistan.

Gottfried Kolditz passed in 1982 at the age of 59.
