The director's son, Chuck Pierce Jr. appears as Cotton, the young brother of Clayanna (played by Dawn Wells).

Cast as Pale Flower, Sacheen Littlefeather is perhaps best remembered for her on stage decline of the Best Actor award on behalf of Marlon Brando at the 45th Academy Awards in 1973.

The production filmed in Montana on the Flathead Reservation (Kalispell) and the Blackfoot Reservation (Browning) in addition to Colorado locations.

Charles B. Pierce passed in 2010 at the age of 71.

Sacheen Littlefeather passed in 2022 at the age of 75.
