Based on true events, the film takes place in the 1880's and tells the story of widowed artist Catherine Weldon who traveled from New York to North Dakota to paint a portrait of Chief Sitting Bull.

Cast as Sitting Bull, actor Michael Greyeyes (Crazy Horse, Stolen Women, Captured Hearts) received critical acclaimed for his portrayal of the famous Native American chief.

Filming locations include Santa Fe, Pecos and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
