Burt Lancaster previously starred in 1954's The Apache.

Cast as Two Crows (the leader of a group of Kiowa Indians) is Mexican-American actor Armando Silvestre. In 1960 he starred in Las rosas del milagro (The Miracle Roses), a Mexican historical film set during the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire. He also had roles in Geronimo (1962) and Kings of the Sun (1963).

Also appearing in the film is Dan Vadis, best known for starring in sword and sandal classics, including The Ten Gladiators (1963) and The Triumph of Hercules (1964).

Filming locations included Sierra de Órganos National Park in the town of Sombrerete, Mexico.
